Laundry: Changing Time, Changing Ways
Through May 1, 2021
DUNNING HISTORY GALLERY
Laundry has always been a time consuming chore. The development of laundry techniques over the years freed up valuable time for women, in particular, to pursue leisure activities, careers, and education outside the home. The Loveland Museum’s historic collection offers a glimpse into the development of washing technology reflecting the changes seen in the household structure over time.
This exhibit also brings a contemporary look at laundry with artist Surabhi Saraf’s video installation FOLD on loan from Blanton Museum of Art, The University of Texas at Austin.
